Animal Crossing is a classic series of games where you can live a peaceful life among animal villagers. New Horizons is a great addition to the series, with more new villagers and features. I was so taken by it I have docked over 200 hours in the game.
In the previous games, you were the mayor of a quiet town. In New Horizons, you take a Deserted Island Getaway Package to... a deserted island. Your job is to take the island from humble beginnings to a beautiful holiday spot.
One of the things that's better compared to the previous games is villagers moving. In old games, they would just move with the passage of time, often resulting in a goodbye to your favourite. Here, they won't move without telling you. You have a chance to stop them. This was great as I spent a lot of time trying to get my favourite villagers. Before, you'd just get a random villager. You now have some more control. You can find them in various places and win them over to get the ones you want.
Animal Crossing is in real time, so they celebrate holidays! It's really fun to watch the villagers celebrate and take part yourself. I still use it for New Year, as the countdown is really pretty!
There's so many options to personalise your island. You can make custom furniture and wallpaper, and decorate pretty much anything! Unlike before, you don't have to spend five hours funding each lamppost. You can just buy them and go!
One of the many things you can decorate is yourself. You can choose from lots of hair styles and colours, as well as lots of clothes. You can even make your own with the addition of Pro Designs.
It's a great game overall, nothing really negative to point out.
